Report: Once again the group had decided to hold its Christmas dinner at the Red Lion in Boldre, an easy decision after the good food and service received in the previous years. For a change we decided to foray at Boldre churchyard not realising that Hordle School were holding their carol service on the same day and were likely to overfill the carpark. However this did mean we were serenaded with carols whilst foraying, an unusual and novel experience for most. The group was hoping to find some of the unimproved 'CHEG' grassland species and despite the late foray four species of waxcap and one trichoglossum were found. Amongst the other recorded species was the group's second record for Peniophora boidinii, having been seen the previous month at IBM, Hursley (see report). At midday the group relocated to the Red Lion where they were joined by a few other members including Gordon Dickson and Ann Leonard. They have both contributed enormously to our understanding of New Forest fungi and in recognition of this and their support to the group over the years a small gift was presented to them. During the foray and meal Stuart accompanied by Eric and Alan were able to model some garments embroidered with the recently designed HFRG logo which should hopefully be sported at next years forays by group members.
