Documenting the Fungi of Hampshire

Hale Purlieu - Sat 27 Oct 2012

Field event ID: HF1224

OS Grid areas: SU1817 SU1818

Weather: Dry and sunny day following a week with little rain.

Report: Today's foray was earmarked to be a mixed woodland and heathland foray and to see if Mycena megaspora could be found. There were fewer forayers than usual due to a rival foray in Northern Ireland which combined with the dry weather set a challenge for the bravehearted. Our hopes for the mycena were briefly raised until we noticed the sticky stipe with a touch of yellow on it - Mycena epiptyergia again. The roadside woodland was definitely the more environment although a polypore on a gorse bush generated interest but remains to be identified.
