Park at SZ420845

Brighstone Down (SZ420845) just off Lynch Lane.

There is an extensive area of Forestry Commission plantation woodland on both sides of the road. If conditions are suitable, the National Trust chalk grassland can be productive for fungi.

This weekend event is organised by the IOW group.

On Saturday we will visit Brighstone Forest a National Trust property.

On Sunday, we will visit Briddlesford Copse, courtesy of the People’s Trust for Endangered Species. This is a large complex of semi-natural ancient woodland. We will be parking in Sandpit Copse (SZ54299012) belonging to the People’s Trust for Endangered Species. You reach this by a turn off from the Briddlesford Road at Knight’s Cross (SZ535897). Follow the gravel road (Briddlesford Lane) eastwards for just under 1km to reach the left hand turn to Sandpit Copse. There is parking ion the wood.
