Site manager: Private Land

Nearest postcode: RG20 9RH

Park at SU440603

Because we are non paying visitors we shall approach the Estate from the village of Highclere which is 2 miles SW of Newbury. The village is on the A343 which can be accessed from the A34 Newbury bypass for those travelling from the South. From the village travel SE along Star Lane towards the estate and park by the Church at SU440603. We will then proceed in convoy to the Temple area (SU455601) after a brief search of the Churchyard.

Do not enter by the main entrance off the A34.

Non-members are welcome to join any foray but please contact us to check for last minute changes. All events start at 10am.

Highclere Castle is the home of the Carnarvon family and the current Earl (8th) and Countess are still involved in running the estate. It was the 5th Earl who discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922 with Howard Carter and there is a current Egyptian exhibition. Further details can be found at www.highclerecastle.co.uk.
