Leckford JSL Estate - Sat 18 Aug 2012
Field event ID: HF1211
OS Grid areas: SU3637
Report: (Sue Rogerson) Seven HFRG members were accompanied by Glyn Evans representing the estate. The damp area visited was enjoyed by those who like rummaging around and turning logs but there there were still very few agarics about. Amanita phalloides (Death Cap) was soon found but later in the day Alan found Entoloma undatum. This is not a particularly unusual fungus but not one we often see. Again Alan found Nectria ralfsii, an unusual nectria on Acer pseudoplatanus. For me the find of the day was a Hohenbuehelia look alike which was definitely unclamped whereas Hohenbuehelia is clamped. At present Alan has been unable to decide which species it is. To quote him 'I feel confident we should be able to find out what it is with some outside help.' Paul took a superb photo. Let's hope this is not one that gets away.
