BBQ Linwood
Sat 21 Jul 2012
Field event ID HF1207
OS Grid areas: SU1809
Weather: Almost the first fine day after weeks of rain as the jetstream finally tracked north ending a period of very unusual early summer.
New Records:
New to Hampshire: Octospora roxheimii
Report: (Sue Rogerson) Several members gathered at Sue's house before wandering to the reserve. I find it amazing how little fungi there are about despite there having been considerable rain over recent weeks. Most of the specimens collected were resupinates. One of the highlights was Alan finding some more specimens of ‘his’ Rectipilus which is new to science and still awaiting publication.
I left the group to return and prepare the BBQ while they went on to the SSSI part of the reserve where Alan found an interesting ascomycete on a bonfire site, Octospora roxheimii which is a new Hampshire record. Eric and Sue Janke joined us just in time for the food. I hope everyone enjoyed it and we all thank Alan for his sterling work cooking the BBQ
