Weather: A cold dampish day as the December cold spell and snow continues.

Report: We all gathered for a short foray before the annual Christmas meal which this year was to be held at The Red Lion at Boldre. Despite the cold weather urging us to keep moving examing branches and twigs was the most profitable habitat to explore. A further find of Nodotia lyndoniae, after it was first seen in January this year by Alan, was found by Sara and identified by Alan. The first British record was found by Nic Legon in 2004(1).It is a spiny resupinate reflected in the genus name which is an anagram of Odontia meaning teeth. This was the first time it had been seen on a HFRG foray. The lovely pink Aleurodiscus wakefieldiae made it's pre Christmas appearance along with A botyrosus. Despite the cold Add found a perfect specimen of Phallus impudicus (Stinkhorn) which had escaped the ravages of flies which were notably absent!

Shortly after midday hunger and thirst were setting in and we slowly made our way to the Red Lion to a warming glass of mulled wine. We had a room virtually to ourselves were we enjoyed an excellent meal, every bit as tasty as on our previous visit. We would like to thank Alan for booking the venue and organising the menu choices and payments.
