Weather: After some rain first thing the rest of the day was dry and fine as it had been for the previous few weeks.
Report: (Alan Lucas) Because of the long period of dry weather and not much rain to speak of in recent weeks we were not expecting it to be a good day. But some fungi can tolerate these dry conditions, the Boletaeceae is a good example and we did find six species the best of which was Boletus rhodopurpureus a BAP species found by Add. We did struggle finding very few Russulas only one Amanita and no Lactarius, Sue wondered off early on in the wrong direction and did not meet up with the rest of the group until lunch time after a few phone calls. Whilst we were having lunch a orange fungus was found growing on a grass stem Paul took it home to see if he could identify it. Whilst he determined the genus (Epichloe) he could go no further without knowing what species of grass it was on. We thus have no name as yet but it could just be the common E. Typhina.
