Report: On the Saturday four more members of the HFRG came across to the Isle of Wight to join the annual Isle of Wight foray organised by Colin Pope who is the Senior Ecologist of the Isle of Wight Council and led by Alan Outen, the Hertfordshire Recorder for Fungi. The seven members of the HFRG joined about twenty other forayers from the island all hoping the dry weather was not going to spoil the day's plans of exploring several sites around Newtown. The first site visited was on the army land at Locks Heath where we had to keep an eye out for lurking soldiers who were trying to remain hidden from us and as there were no records of athlete's foot I think they succeeded. I think the highlights of the morning included Mycena cedidiophila yet again on knopper gall. A small fluffy brown job turned out to be the first of two records for Flammulaster muricatus over the weekend, a species not previously recorded in VC10 on the FRDBI. Everyone gathered for lunch and afterwards the Hampshire group went to a National Trust site at Walters Copse which lead down to the saltmarsh. In the evening the group went for a very enjoyable meal at the New Inn at Shalfleet before Paul and Add returned to the mainland whilst Red Funnel were still operating as they had already taken one vessel out of service due to 'engineering problems'.
