Weather: Southen England had experienced warm and dry conditions for yet another week resulting in very dry conditions underfoot.

Report: The plan for the day was to foray in the morning and then to follow this with a microscope session in the afternoon. At the start of the foray Eric reported that he has seen one lone fruitbody whilst driving tthrough the grounds at IBM. Predictably most of the days finds were on wood or around trees including finding a third tree with Podoscypha multizonata. Some very old blackened boletes were able to named as Boletus legaliae because they were found in a known location for the species. However a fresh specimen of 'Boletus pruinatus' surprised everyone when the base was found to contain abundant carroty red dots. Later full examination confirmed this to be B communis. There was a magnificient ring of Phaeolus schweintzii, a new species to some of the group, and a photo opportunity for others. Ann Leonard brought a collection of books and journals which Ray Collings had asked in his will to be distributed amongst the foraying community. There were several popular books, including the BFF, for which Ann and Gordon drew the names of the lucky winners out of hat. I am sure the new owners will benefit greatly from Ray's bequest. The afternoon session continued with a microscope session which introduced some members to the microscopic world of fungi.
