Report: The annual fungal exhibition was held once again in the Reptile Centre near Lyndhurst and we were grateful to the Forestry Commission for allowing us to use these facilities. The event was well attended with upward of two dozen attendees of all ages coming to the twice daily forays led by our own 'town crier' Eric Janke. The display of fungi in the centre featured around 150 fungi that were all expertly displayed and labelled by members of the group. The success of this event is down to the many group members who help by collecting and displaying specimens, manning the display and talking to the public and help with the less glamourous tasks of tidying up. All this was coodinated once again by Alan Lucas and Sue Rogerson. The event was held for just three days this year which meant the specimens remained in better condition and there was almost as many visitors to the event. As always some unusual fungi are found and there were two new records for Hampshire. Whilst visiting Denmark this year some of the group were shown Postia guttulata which was reportedly spreading across Scandinavia like wildfire. Although hardly previously reported in Britain it has now been found on more than one site in the New Forest and I am sure will turn up in other locations. The other new Hampshire record was Trichophaea hemisphaerioides a deep hairy cup found on firesites. Thanks to Geoffrey Kibby's Amanita book the second occurance of Amanita olivaceogrisea was almost recognised.
