New to Hampshire: Membranomyces delectabilis (Clavulicium delectabile)
Report: Whilst an expectant gathering of members were waiting at the small parking area for Emer bog and Baddesley Common a dog walker returned with a soaking wet dog. On further enquiry we were informed that there was plenty of damp ground ahead, something we had not seen for many weeks. We rapidly, well very rapidly for forayers, crossed the open ground and entered Emer bog itself where the ground was certainly damp and boggy in parts and gave us hope of finding fruitbodies. Although not in profusion, this is still the spring, we did find several 'cap and stem' fungi in addition to those hugging trees and wood. Three species of Amanita, a Naucoria, Lactarius,Entoloma, Leccinum, Galerina and Russula were amongst the day's collection. There was wonderful display of Scutellinia scutellata (Eyelash Fungus) extending to over 200 fruitbodies on one log. Nearby was the uncommon Pachyella babingtonii, in fact the group has only found it at two other Hampshire sites but this was the third sighting at Emer. The find of the day was a resupinate found by Alan which took some time to track down. Eventually it was confirmed as Membranomyces delectabilis by Martyn Ainsworth. On the FRDBI this is listed as Clavulicium delectabile for which there are only two other records, one for Devon and the other Caernarvonshire.
