Weather: The fine spell of weather was continuing with just the occasional shower.

Report: On a fine day several members of the group were joined by Don McNeil who was visiting from the NW Fungus Group and was looking for fungi growing on insects, which involved putting on chest high waders and entering Hatchett Pond! Certainly one of the more exotic ways of collecting fungi. Whilst Don was thus engaged the rest of party proceeded in a more usual manner through Rans Wood and into Stubbs Wood. The hoped for boletes were conspicious by their abscence but were treated to some wonderful displays of fresh Ganoderma resinaceum and Laetiporus sulphureus (Chicken of the Woods). The more unusual finds included the rare Podostroma alutaceum which has the quirky English name of Dogend! Also of interest was the find of Calocera glossoides a species probably under recorded due to its similarity to Calocera pallidospathulata. Rumbling tummies and the passage of high noon signified it was time to abandon the woods and head for delightful hospitality of Tina's abode where once again we enjoyed a sumptuous BBQ cooked by both Tina and Alan.
